How many planks do I need?

The more planks you have, the bigger the project you can make and the more multiple people can enjoy building together. For this reason, the bare minimum we recommend is 100 planks per person. For most families, we recommend starting with at least 400 planks so that you can build together and with friends.

Should I get maple or pine KEVA Planks?

  • Highest quality
  • Most durability
  • Heirloom Quality
  • Made in USA

Go for Pine if you want:

  • Best affordability
  • Build the same structures as with maple planks

All products in the KEVA Planks Home collection use maple KEVA Planks for the finest quality, beauty and function. Maple and Pine KEVA planks are the same size and both provide amazing creative construction experiences but maple provides a few extra benefits.

  • Maple is a hard dense durable wood that resists dings, dents and rounded edges.  Straight, crisp edges are necessary for the best stacking experience.
  • Maple is commonly used for gym floors, bowling pins and cutting boards because of its superior durability. We use maple for the same reason.
  • Maple has very tight pores that resist fingerprints and dirt.
  • Maple is very dense so the planks stack with more stability and feel weighty and balanced.
  • The wood grain of maple is particularly beautiful, so maple is commonly used in art galleries and for works of art. Maple KEVA Planks are works of art.
  • Maple KEVA planks are made in the USA with the finest woodworking machinery in the world so the planks are cut with incredible precision and no sanding.
  • Maple costs more upfront than pine, but provides the best construction experience and the best long term value.
  • Maple KEVA Planks are made with heirloom quality for heirloom memories. Your children can grow up with maple KEVA planks and pass them on to their children.

Which Container should I buy?

All KEVA Planks containers in the KEVA Home section are attractive, practical and durable so you can't go wrong.  Each container is carefully designed to look good in any setting so you can keep KEVA planks close by to entertain anyone in your home looking for something to do.  Maybe its your kids. Maybe visiting friends or maybe you need a creative calming break.

The wood bin with the 1000 set is the largest set we sell.  It's on wheels so you can easily wheel your KEVA planks wherever you like.  The Duraflex design using nylon corner connectors mean you bin will flex but it won't break.  The 9 ply baltic birch plywood is durable, and easy to clean.

Don't be fooled by cheap competitors

If you've shopped around, don't be fooled by copy cats who show planks that may look similar to ours but, without KEVA precision,  the magic evaporates and frustration takes over.  Cheap planks to stack securely so structures topple unexpectedly and don't look as beautiful.  KEVA planks kits provide many more photos of project ideas along with tips and activities.

What is the age recommendation?

KEVA Planks defy age limits.  They really do appeal to adults as much as children.

Most KEVA products are rated age 5 to adult.  In practice, younger children easily build simple structures.  Everyone builds at their own skill level.   Teens thing they're cool.  Adults rediscover their creative side and fine them to be a calming enjoyable outlet.

Because of the universal age appeal, cross-generational building happens readily and older children can play side by side with younger children.
